Jenny Hou is an economic and financial advisor with 15 years extensive experience in financial risk management, restructuring electricity wholesale markets, formation of independent electrical transmission companies, financial analysis of structured finance, and business strategy in the energy industry and financial sectors.
In 2013, Ms. Hou founded SunEnergie Capital LLC, a Virginia-based capital venture firm primarily focused on creating innovative financing structures for public-private partnership investments in the federal, state and municipality space for the purpose of energy efficiency efforts. Prior to forming SunEnergie, she served as a financial advisor to financial institutions and multinational companies to examine financial risk issues, estimate equity risk premiums, and develop appropriate levels of return on equity incentives for infrastructure investments. Ms. Hou worked with the financial risk management of PriceWaterhouseCoopers focusing on designing enterprise-wide risk management solutions, and managing economic capital to ensure sound corporate governance practices and improve market liquidity within the energy industry and financial sectors.
Prior to PWC, Ms. Hou worked for the economic and analytics group of PHB Hagler Bailly, Inc. In addition to providing financial advice to industry clients, Ms. Hou has also provided consultation services to the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), international energy agency (OECD/IEA) and the World Bank Trust Fund.
Ms. Hou holds a B.S. from Peking University with Honors, an M.S. in Regional Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign, and an M.S. in Management Science in Engineering from Stanford University.
