
Mr. Derek W. Yeung is a partner in Loza & Loza LLP and a licensed patent attorney in California. He counsels clients with respect to their intellectual property assets and helps them manage and grow their portfolio. He has worked extensively with domestic and international companies specializing in various areas of technology, including medical devices, consumer electronics, advanced displays, and apparel. Mr. Yeung has broad experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications, trademark applications and copyright registrations. In particular, he has extensive experience in electrical, electronic, optical, and software arts. Prior to joining Loza & Loza, Mr. Yeung was a patent attorney at the law firm of Christie, Parker & Hale and a patent counsel at HRL Laboratories LLC.
Mr. Yeung started his career as an electrical engineer after he graduated from the University of Southern California with a master's degree in Electrical Engineering. During his decade-long engineering career, Mr. Yeung developed expertise in a number of different areas such as ASIC design, embedded system, telecommunication system, among others. During his engineering career, Mr. Yeung developed an interest in patent law, and attended evening law school to acquire his J.D. degree to become a patent lawyer.
